Latest Fishing Reports from Clearwater Bay and Gulf Nearshore Waters

Stay updated with the most current fishing conditions by following the Wish Upon A Fish Charters reports. Whether you are planning a trip this weekend or looking for seasonal trends, our real-time updates from Clearwater Bay provide the expert insights you need to know what is biting and where the action is happening.

Trophy Fish Caught

Recent excursions in the Gulf nearshore waters have yielded incredible results for anglers seeking a challenge. We have successfully put clients on massive "Gator" Spotted Seatrout and over-slot Redfish that put every bit of tackle to the test. Our latest reports highlight an influx of trophy fish including powerful Snook holding near the passes and aggressive Tarpon during their seasonal migration. By monitoring local tides and water temperatures, Captain Ethan consistently identifies the best windows to target these prized species, ensuring our guests have the highest probability of a record-breaking catch.

Family-Friendly Fishing Adventures

Beyond the hunt for giants, our reports celebrate the success of our specialized family-friendly fishing trips. We pride ourselves on creating a safe, easy-going environment where young anglers can experience the thrill of the sport for the first time. Our 22’ Tidewater is equipped with all necessary safety gear, and we focus on high-action spots where kids can stay engaged catching Mangrove Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, and Ladyfish. These reports often feature the smiles of young fishermen, proving that our guided trips are as much about making memories as they are about the catch itself.

Fishing Year-Round in Clearwater

One of the greatest advantages of our location is the ability to enjoy world-class fishing year-round. While species like Cobia and Kingfish provide peak excitement in the spring and fall, the temperate Florida climate ensures that our inshore flats remain productive even through the winter months. Our seasonal logs detail the best times to target specific tropical fish and migratory species, providing a reliable guide for your next booking. No matter the month, Captain Ethan’s extensive local knowledge makes Wish Upon A Fish a dependable choice for a successful outing on the water.

Clearwater Bite Report: Rods are Bending in the Bay! fishing report coverpicture

January 23, 2026

Clearwater Beach - Pinellas, FL Fishing Report on 23rd Jan, 2026

What’s up, everyone? Captain Ethan here with the latest update from the water. If you’ve been thinking about getting out lately, the short version is: the fish are hungry. We’ve been spending most of our time working the mangroves and oyster bars in Clearwater Bay, and the Snook action has been absolute fire. We’re seeing a lot of aggressive hits on live greenbacks, especially on those outgoing tides. We’ve also been putting plenty of "Gator" Spotted Seatrout in the boat, with a few solid Redfish starting to school up on the shallower flats as the sun warms things up. Just a few miles out in the Gulf nearshore waters, the Mangrove Snapper are thick on the ledges, and we’ve even run into some early season Spanish Mackerel that are putting up a heck of a fight on light tackle. The water clarity has been crystal clear, making for some awesome sight-casting opportunities. Whether you're looking to check a trophy off your bucket list or just want to get the kids out of the house for some bent-rod therapy, the conditions are perfect right now. The cooler is iced down, the bait is fresh, and the fish are waiting!
